Researchers in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana

The Wiley-SANLiC Author Engagement Programme

As a partnership between Wiley and the South African National Library and Information Consortium (SANLiC), the Author Engagement Programme will strengthen publishing outcomes for researchers in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana, through a range of online and in-person workshops and activities, as well as providing free access to the Wiley Researcher Academy.

This agreement began in 2022 and will run until 2025.

To support this programme, SANLiC has appointed six experts to an advisory board: Prof. Kirstin Krauss (University of South Africa), Prof. Josiah Munda (Tshwane University of Technology), Prof. Dennis Ocholla (University of Zululand), Dr. Reggie Raju (University of Cape Town), Prof. Leslie Swartz (Stellenbosch University), and Prof. Corli Witthuhn (University of the Free State).

The Wiley-SANLiC Author Engagement Programme is part of an agreement that provides open access publishing for researchers at institutions in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia, as well as read access to Wiley’s journal portfolio. You may be eligible to publish your article open access in Wiley journals, at no charge to you.

Publishing open access increases the visibility of research, leading to greater impact and more citations. Make the most of this opportunity and maximise the global reach of your research. Find out more here.

Wiley Researcher Academy

Available to researchers, faculty, and students, the Wiley Researcher Academy (WRA) is a self-paced, online programme offering over 60 hours of essential education for graduate students, early career researchers and more experienced researchers. It equips researchers with the knowledge and skills to meet the challenges they face in the publishing process – with any publisher, not just Wiley.

To get access to the Wiley Researcher Academy, register with your institutional email address or with your individual email from within the institution’s campus (IP authentication).

Written and presented by Wiley’s global network of journal editors the courses are designed to deliver effective learning and measurable results. Its curriculum has been carefully researched to cover learning needs common to researchers across the world.

The platform is free to use for all researchers, faculty, students and other members of affiliated institutions in South Africa, Botswana, or Namibia that are covered by the Wiley-SANLiC agreement. Register now!

Online and in-person events, plus access to the Wiley Researcher Academy training resource, offers researchers and students at southern African institutions the chance to expand their skills and careers with training activities.

The Wiley-SANLiC Author Engagement Programme provides free access to these resources to members of 27 institutions in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. This programme will ensure that more of the high-quality research conducted in these institutions reaches the global research community.
